iTunes - cannot locate CD configuration folder

A problem first reported in 2004!

Quick fix is to search for a folder called "CD Configuration" then copy it into c:\program files\itunes or c:\program files (x86)\itunes .

This assumes that you can find the missing folder. At present I have no data on how to fix if not present.

Windows Default Programs

To assign a program to a particular file type proceed as follows.

Windows 7.

Right click the file.
If there is an 'Choose default...' option then take this.
You will see a list of candidates.
(If the one you need it not there then see below.)
Make sure that the "Always Use..." box is ticked.
Click on the desired program.
All done.

Windows 10.

Right click the file.
If there is an 'Open With' option then take this.
You will see an initial list of candidates.
If the one you want is not there, then click "View More Apps..."
Make sure that the "Always Use..." box is ticked.
Click on the desired program.
All done.

Can't see the program?

Options are:

OPEN MANUALLY

Open the required program, select File-Open, browse to and open the file. Close it an repeat the process above. The program should now be on the candidate list.

BROWSE FOR PROGRAM

For Win 7 there is a Browse button, for Win 10, a "Look..on this PC". This can be used to find the executable but this is rather geeky. You'll need information about where the program is located, possibly from the vendor's website.

LOAD FROM STORE

For Win 10, if you don't have the program there might be a Microsoft program. Use the "Look..in store" to search. You might have to pay for whatever it is.

WINDOWS 8?

Probably the same as 10.
